To be spoken down to by that disgusting demon, being told to give Arynth his regards, all the time with that look of disdain on the demon’s face. Reprehensible! As if a flash of red demon eyes would worry Rhys. Then again, he was supposed to be an especially powerful demon.

He was an elusive man, Mr Atua. Rhys had done his work well and found out as much as he could about the demon, but that wasn’t enough. A successful businessman, charming, powerful … but it ended there. The last informant Rhys had managed to bribe hadn’t turned up to the meeting with Rhys and hadn’t been seen again. He knew where the demon lived, but he couldn’t get close because of that goddamned hellhound. It had caught his scent straight away and almost got close enough to devour him; the monstrous beast was fast. However, Rhys reckoned he could take on the demon Atua, if he needed to—as a last resort, of course. What niggled him was how Mr Atua knew about his ruse at the newspaper offices. Rhys knew that was the covert affair the demon had been alluding to. Then Rhys paused and remembered the youngster, Quinn. Something about the boy was definitely off. He’d find out eventually—he always did. But Rhys had his own secrets. A slow smile spread across his lips at the thought.

Rhys was a unique tracker. One smell of his quarry was all he needed. The blonde mortal woman he’d smelled the last time he’d visited England hadn’t taken him long to find. He had scheduled a stopover in England before the meeting, specifically to hunt her. As he’d stroked her pretty face, he’d studied her with a sardonic smile. Her scream had been delicious as he’d bared his fangs and buried them into her neck.
